“I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain (in the clouds), ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.”
~ Jesus, Matthew 17:20

Yesterday, I designed the cover for the book I intend to write.

I’m not sure exactly how the book will completely come together, but just as I wrote about yesterday, I’ve begun the process of picking up my breadcrumbs. They are scattered all over, and it will take me some time to consolidate them into something that is meaningful. But I’m prepared for the task.

I created the cover to establish belief for myself.

I had a friend write yesterday that my words struck a deep cord for her. We chatted for a bit, and she confessed that she continues to work with letting go of limiting beliefs. She also would like to write a book.

The trail of breadcrumbs that we leave behind can offer clues we give ourselves to find our path.   As Buddha says, we have the capacity to be the lamp unto ourselves. However, much like the poisonous candy within the wrappers we leave behind, it’s important that we only work with the clues, the wrappers, and that we don’t eat the poisonous candy, the limiting beliefs, of our past. This is what letting go and developing wisdom is all about.

What can we do to wash away the seeds of doubt, planting instead the mustard seed of faith?

In his chapter entitled “Faith in Your Ability”, Napoleon Hill writes: “You are what you are because of the dominating thoughts that you permit to occupy your mind. It is a fact that you will come to believe whatever you repeat to yourself, whether the statement is true or false. If you fill your mind with fear and doubt, and if you do not believe in your ability to connect with and use the forces of Infinite Intelligence, then you will not be able to use those forces. The law of autosuggestion will take your lack of belief and use that doubt against you.”

“It is essential for you to encourage the positive emotions as the dominating forces of your mind.”

“If you CHOOSE to, you can throw off any bad influences from your past, and build your own life the way you want it to be.”

To me, this is why meditation, journaling and dreamboarding are absolutely critical.

They are means by which we can begin to acknowledge and understand our inner landscape. To stand back from our thinking mind, and allow our soul self to harness the negative thoughts. The more we can become connected to our soul self, the greater our ability to change.

It is also important that we let go of our need to see the big picture.

Recall that Napoleon Hill said the greatest inventors of all time are not afraid to walk into the unknown. They have an idea, and they walk with belief that whatever they need to complete the task will appear for them along the way. They don’t let “not knowing” get in their way. They don’t have to see the final end product to begin.

What have I been doing? I’ve been writing. Until yesterday, when “Infinite Intelligence” spoke to me, I’ve never considered myself to be “a writer”. If I had, I’m not sure I’d be where I am today. Being “a writer” holds all kinds of connotations for me. It’s much easier just to write.

So my friend and I made a pact. We will support one another in writing just a page a day.

I recalled for her a quote by John Steinbeck:

“When I face the desolate impossibility of writing 500 pages, a sick sense of failure falls on me, and I know I can never do it. Then gradually, I write one page and then another. One day’s work is all that I can permit myself to contemplate.”

I will continue to “just write”, which is what I am doing now. When I’m finished, I will have some breakfast, then go to work, and begin the process of compiling my book. There I will be “a writer”, “an awakener”, “a friend, who desperately wants to help people find their way, to realize their divine self, through the teachings of the great prophets and mystics”.

Plant the mustard seed of belief today.

Whatever it is, just write your one page. It doesn’t have to be monumental !! Take that one small step. Pick up one breadcrumb at a time. Start with your cover. Begin in the middle. Write your prologue. Draft an outline. It doesn’t matter. Just start.

As we direct the ship of our soul into new and uncharted waters, each and every one of us must learn to trick ourselves into believing that our future dreams can, and will, come true.

Thinking, by Walter Wintle
———–
If you think you are beaten, you are,
If you think you dare not, you don’t.
If you like to win, but you think you can’t,
It is almost certain you won’t.

If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost,
For out in the world we find,
Success begins with a fellow’s will.
It’s all in the state of mind.

If you think you are outclassed, you are,
You’ve got to think high to rise,
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.

Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man.
But soon or late the man who wins,
Is the man who thinks he can.
