“Happiness is a place between too little and too much.”
~ Finnish Proverb

Well, as you can see from my photo, it’s a little gloomy here today!

Rainy days are perfect for getting organized. Especially when they fall on a Monday! And I’m really feeling the need to get some lists made.

One of the beautiful things that comes from leaving home for an extended period of time is the work that goes into it. We’ll likely get more done in the next six weeks than we’ve gotten done all year.

If you’ve never left your home for more than a week at a time, I’d strongly suggest it. HomeExchange.com is a great place to start!  Aside from the productivity that occurs, leaving your home in the care of another will allow you to see your “belongings” in a whole different light. What’s functional (and what may need replacing), what’s clutter and needs to be discarded or donated, what’s sentimental and maybe should be stored away (or what you need to let go of), what’s valuable (and really shouldn’t be out in the open anyway (one never knows when a robber might strike!). The vast majority of my belongings fall under the category of functional. If they get broken, come up missing … So what … All I really care about is that the cats are loved and taken care of … (and if you know of anyone who might be interested in a house sitting job, the position is still open!)

I’ve already completed my list and calendar of the big projects that need completing. Today, I’ll start making lists of the small things, alot of which entails digital organization, as my whole office moves with me on a laptop.

As I’m thinking through my goals, Steve Pavlina happened to post two interesting blog entries entitled “Do Your Goals Conflict with Your Personality?“ followed by “Your Beautiful Personality”. It’s a whole different approach to looking at goals and project lists. We are already a month into the second half of the year. To me, Thanksgiving will be here before I know it. How are you doing so far with the goals you set at the beginning of the year? Are you making good progress? Or are you drifting or stuck? If you are a little bit stuck, maybe take a look at Steve’s articles. They might just give you a whole new outlook on life …

If you are needing something more simple today, here’s a handy little page of quotes on getting organized …
