“If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
~  Matthew 17:20

What a beautiful morning it is!   I set my alarm for 4:45 to meditate and seek guidance as the full moon went into it’s lunar eclipse at 5:15.   I was awake at least an hour before my alarm, and honestly felt as though I’d been meditating all night, never really falling asleep.

While the moon had already set behind the mountain of hills to my south, I could still see her light as I headed down to my zen meditation room.

Scan 2It’s with no surprise that I was offered the card of strength, the Mountain, for the upcoming weeks ahead …

My second sitting this morning with the sunrise, seemed to mirror every bit of what my guidance was telling me.   Right at dawn, the skies became a beautiful bright robin’s egg blue with pink stratus clouds running across the horizon, almost like stripes on an Easter egg.   To finish my sitting, the sun shown down on the hills of Tortola, much like the picture on my oracle card.

“The massiveness of the mountain, as spectacular hues from the sun reflect from its body, evoke the sense of impenetrable and immovable strength and stature.  A mountain’s quiet, resolute immensity leaves us in awe.   Imagine yourself as a mountain of strength, solidly grounded in the earth, your head held high as if you were touching the sky.  There is no need to be reactive and subject to external influences far beyond your control.”

Other oracle cards interpret the mountain as an obstacle to be overcome, with guidance that it is best to flow around it.  To keep an open mind and fluid attitude.   The mountain asks us to step back and question our beliefs.

My oracle deck holds 48 cards.   And it’s amusing how frequently the same cards appear for me.   I received the Mountain card as guidance last summer, in mid-July.   At the time, I was a bit baffled by why I had drawn this card.   Nothing seemed to be asking me to “stand steady like a rock”.   And yet, what a CRAZY month August was!  A good friend sold her house, and moved off island.  I found myself completely at the mercy of other people’s intentions, tropical storms, very unique and challenging villa guests, and days of rotating power outages.  From there, we got new caretakers situated, moving right into summer vacation, with my mother-in-law winning a big jackpot at the casino!

There are many signs that April could be a very similar month.   As I look at my calendar, the dates are pretty much wide open, which generally makes me want to start planning blocks of time in terms of major projects.   The last time I did this, I was sorely disappointed, as everything I planned seemed to be tossed by the wayside.

Lena Stevens from The Power Path.com writes of April:

“Expect the unexpected.  This is truly an eccentric month that will test us at every turn. There will be highs and lows, higher than you have experienced before and lower than you ever thought you would be able to handle.    Flexibility will be key to navigating the month as your best-laid plans change and then change again and then change again and then change again.”

“Don’t get attached to anything. Some of the work this month will be about releasing your attachments to the past. If you are waiting for all of this to be over so things can ‘get back to normal’, you will be waiting a long long time.  There is no going back, and your attachments will only weigh you down and keep you from the higher centered experiences that offer inspiration for creating something new and wonderful in your life.”

“Waiting for things to go back to what your comfort level expects is not a productive use of your time and energy this month. It is better to take a deep breath and dive into the unknown.”

“It will be very important to stay out of Martyrdom and to be in acceptance of feeling ‘in no man’s land’ as well as embracing the unknown in a proactive way.

“This month supports action, and action will be key to staying out of stuck places physically, emotionally and mentally….”

So friends, if you too have been feeling completely at the mercy of the shifting tides, may you also want to look to the mountain for inspiration and strength.  We have a good opportunity here to let go of a really old story as well as our attachment to routines and expectations.

Words of wisdom for navigating this month:
Keep your vibration as high as you can.
Practice non-attachment.
Accept and stay neutral and flexible.
Have faith.  Be strong.
Trust in Divine Timing.
Don’t take things personally.
Welcome change.
Ride the wave.
Revel in delicious ambiguity.
Have fun!

——

The gentlest thing in the world
overcomes the hardest thing in the world.
That which has no substance
enters where there is no space.
This shows the value of non-action.

Teaching without words,
performing without actions:
that is the Master’s way.
