“Focus your conscious mind on things you desire, not things you fear. Doing so brings dreams to life.”
   ~ Unknown

First, thanks to Spencer for this lovely, regal looking sunrise this morning. I was fast asleep under my blanket, this cool overcast morning, when the sun made it’s entrance. To me, looks like a crown in the clouds …

And I’m sorry to report that I did not wake up $400 million dollars richer from having won the Powerball. I was feeling lucky, as my auto-ticket started with the number 13 (success) and ended with a powerball of 31 (failure). They were Napoleon Hill’s kind of numbers! Oh, well. Cheers to one lucky winner in Southern California. I hope they use the money for the good of humanity as I was preparing to do 🙂

You can’t win if you don’t play. But, as Napoleon Hill says, better to stick with using our minds to bring in those millions!!

And I love the information contained in today’s chapter on the workings of the subconscious mind. I couldn’t help but think that my Dad, the realist, would probably say “malarchy” to some of this. Even Hill says that science cannot explain the workings here, but none-the-less, if you’ve ever had an idea come out of “nowhere”, you’ve just experienced your subconscious mind at work.

The subconscious mind receives and files every impulse that reaches the conscious mind, irregardless of nature. It is a storehouse of all information and thoughts we’ve ever experienced, much of which is “forgotten”. It also is the gateway to the greater storehouse held in Infinite Intelligence.

Those memories that have been mixed with emotional feeling, and faith in our ability, are the ones that are strongest. They are the first to which the subconscious responds and can recall. Even memories that are forgotten can be recalled through hypnosis.

Like my story the other day about cheating on my 11th grade quiz on the list of Presidents. Looking at the list in the present moment, triggered this strong, emotionally charged memory to be drawn back up from the subconscious storehouse into my conscious.

Hill writes: Only the subconscious mind contains the process by which mental impulses (thoughts) are modified and changed into their spiritual (energy) equivalent. It alone is the medium through which prayer (desire) may be transmitted to the source capable of answering prayer (Infinite Intelligence).

Our only way to intentionally influence the subconscious mind, which we do not directly control, is to fill our present actions with strong emotion. By filling our conscious mind with enthusiasm we impress that our burning desire and plan for obtaining it are certain things. The beauty is, if our conscious mind then loses enthusiasm, our subconscious takes over with the images of success that have previously been planted there, helping to stoke the fires of enthusiasm once again. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy of sorts ….

As the subconscious best relates to the language of emotion and feeling, it’s imperative that we direct it using positive emotions, rather than negative ones. The mind can hold only one thought, one emotion, at a time. Thus positive and negative emotions cannot co-exist. One must dominate. Form the habit of applying a positive mental attitude, and eventually you will learn to wipe out the negative thoughts before they have a chance to take root.

Buddha: What we think, we become! Control your thoughts, you control your habits.

The seven most positive emotions to cultivate are: desire, faith, love, sexual charisma, enthusiasm, romance and hope.

The seven most negative emotions to avoid are: fear, jealousy, hatred, revenge, greed, superstition and anger.

So how do you approach prayer?

Hill writes that most people resort to prayer only after everything else has failed. Or they pray by a ritual of rote repetition of word they’ve been taught. “If you pray for a thing, but as you pray, you have fear that you may not receive it, or that your prayer will not be acted upon by Infinite Intelligence, your prayer will be in vain.”

Have you ever received something for which you’ve prayed? If you go back and recall your emotional state of mind while you were praying, you will know for sure that the theory described is more than “malarchy” 😉

So friends, let’s super-charge our prayer today for abundance with lots of faith and enthusiasm !!!!

The difference between Try and Triump is a little UMPH ❤
