“Inch by inch, life’s a cinch. Yard by yard, life’s hard.”
~ John Bytheway

From time to time, even I need to be reminded of my most favorite of all quotes.  As I sat quietly in the warm sunrise this morning, my mind was already stacking up what the day held in store for me.  I was thinking about the mess of unfinished projects that I left sprawled all over my desk.

Peter McWilliam wrote:

When we put things off until some future –  some probably mythical ‘Laterland’ – we drag the past into the future. The burden of yesterday’s incompletions is a heavy load to carry. Don’t carry it.

When the long list of incomplete tasks threatened to became overwhelming, my dear friend Pam would make a game out of it.  She’d write each of the incomplete tasks out on little scraps of paper, then she’d fold them up and drop them into an empty fish bowl that she kept in her office.

And then she’d pick one.

I think I’ll do that today.  As I clear my desk of “incomplete”, I’ll jot each one down.  And maybe by the end of the day, or even the end of the week, the fish bowl will be clear.

Inch by Inch.

How are you feeling today?  Lots of little things dragging you down too?  Things that ‘need’ completing so you can relax over the upcoming holiday weekend?

You can borrow Pam’s fish bowl if you’d like ♥
