A bit of fragrance always clings to the hand that gives roses.

Yesterday was a powerful day of exploration for me. It’s been a while since I’ve worked with a set of crystals that have been gifted to me by a dear friend over the years. In working with the 3rd chakra of self-worth, I wished to consult with the Prehnite stone which I have amongst my collection. Prehnite is green for heart energy, and a balancer to the 3rd chakra. As I pulled my crystals and stones from their purple, namaste pouch, I stared at them in amazement.

Boy do they tell a story! All stones relate to the first 4 chakras!! Jet black for protection, yellow and tiger jasper for grounding, green jade and prehnite for heart energy, along with quartz, which is an overall chakra balancer. These stones tell my story over the past 5 years, working diligently at moving beyond the 3 physical realm chakras, through the heart of forgiveness and compassion. They also tell my friend’s story quite clearly.

As I stared at the stones, my immediate thought was that I need to invest in some purple amethyst.

My google search took me over to an amazing encyclopedia on the use of stones and crystals:

Purple Amethyst has been highly esteemed throughout the ages for its stunning beauty and legendary powers to stimulate, and soothe, the mind and emotions. It is a semi-precious stone in today’s classifications, but to the ancients it was a “Gem of Fire,”

In today’s world, Amethyst is still a remarkable stone of spirituality and contentment, known for its metaphysical abilities to still the mind and inspire an enhanced meditative state. Its inherent high frequency purifies the aura of any negative energy or attachments, and creates a protective shield of Light around the body, allowing one to remain clear and centered while opening to spiritual direction. Amethyst stimulates the Third Eye, Crown and Etheric Chakras enhancing cognitive perception as well as accelerating the development of intuitive and psychic ability. It initiates wisdom and greater understanding, and is a stone of comfort for those grieving the loss of a loved one. Amethyst’s ability to expand the higher mind also enhances one’s creativity and passion. It strengthens the imagination and intuition, and refines the thinking processes. It helps in the assimilation of new ideas, putting thought into action, and brings projects to fruition. It is a talisman of focus and success. Throughout history the special virtue of Amethyst has been that of preventing drunkenness and overindulgence.

What’s really amazing to me about this, is that to start this new quarter, I ordered a set of Oracle Cards. I chose a set by Steven Farmer called “Earth Magic”, as I rely quite heavily on his book “Animal Spirit Guides” and they felt appropriate for both myself and Spencer. Normally, I’d draw a card on the 1st of the month. But March’s activity of “Resolving Conflict” did not end until the April 5th, when I had my discussion with my friend. On the 6th, I asked for guidance in helping me gain clarity on my life purpose. Well, I pulled the card of “Fire & Passion”! Note, that amethyst is also the gem of fire !!!

The Fire Card’s advice is this: It’s time to regain the “fire in your belly”. Passion is an intensity of feeling, whether quietly or enthusiastically expressed. Open yourself to the truth of what you are passionate about, and find a means to express it.

Spencer lovingly calls all of this voodoo magic, but it’s really nothing of the sort …

Wasn’t he shocked when after coming up from tending to his garden, he drew for himself the “Fairies-Earth Magic” card. At first he frowned because of the fairies (too girlish LOL), but as I read it’s meaning, it all became clear … “Offer gratitude for working with the earth. The fairies can help you reconnect in a more intimate way, and all they require is your willingness to pay attention and demonstrate your care. Whether you live in a small space or an expanse of land, get your hands in the dirt with love and enthusiasm and you will be rewarded many times over.” That card was super-charged for him!

Before closing, I’d also like to offer gratitude for my friend Bridgette, who suggested I work with rose quartz as well at this time. This suggestion recalled a beautiful cherry quartz heart that my grandmother gave me, along with a box with roses on it. I dug them both out of storage, along with a collection of stone easter eggs that she sent me over the years. She bought them on a trip she made to the orient after my grandfather died. This is the first year all the eggs have been together, as they were divided up between my storage units on St. Croix and St. Thomas. They sit happily displayed in a crystal bowl grammy gave me, and I spent a wonderful late afternoon, fully in the presence of my grandmother’s love, deeply connected to my heart chakra. It was amazing! So thank you Bridgette!

Guidance is all around us, if we just open ourselves up to ask, and then to listen.
