The Morning Musings of a Mystic

“The sweetness of a life well lived can only be savored when our life has a great purpose. That purpose, that goal, is our own. There is no need to compare ourselves to others. We should choose our own goal and move forward toward achieving it in our own distinct way.”

Spencer suggested that I share the name of each individual island, that as a group, make up my sunrise photo each morning.  Just like our own individual dreams, wouldn’t it be tragic if one of these islands disappeared from the landscape … read more

“What screws us up most in life is the picture in our head of how it is supposed to be.”

I’ll be honest, I was feeling a sense of disappointment, knowing that today’s sunrise couldn’t possibly rival yesterday’s showing. I even googled “let down” to see what nifty quotes came up. And you know what ?!? This is exactly what the author of yesterday’s quote was trying to get across.

It’s not about finding WOW is the spectacular. It’s about finding WOW in the everyday. read more

WOW !!

“Astonishing stuff appears in our lives constantly. We just have to be open for business …”
~  Anne Lamott  in her book  ‘Help.  Thanks. Wow. The Three Essential Prayers.’

Let’s just say I was totally NOT expecting this glorious sunrise today based on first appearances. When I got out of my chair at 6:53, I was awestruck!  I felt like a kid in a candy store!!

I hope today brings you many WOW moments too. Just be open to receive them ….. read more

Why I’m singing this song this morning, I don’t know, but here it is. It is actually the first song I can remember as a child 🙂

Who can take a sunrise
(Who can take a sunrise)
Sprinkle it with dew
(Sprinkle it with dew)
Cover it in chocolate
And a miracle or two
The candy man
(The candy man)
The candy man can
(The candy man can)
The candy man can cause he
Mixes it with love and
Makes the world taste good

Who can take a rainbow
(Who can take a rainbow)
And wrap it in a sigh
(Wrap it in a sigh)
Soak it in the sun and
Make a tasty lemon pie
The candy man
(The candy man)
Oh the candy man can
(The candy man can)
The candy man can
Cause he
Mixes it with
Love and
Makes the world
Taste good read more

“Up, up and away” said the sun today. And with that, my guides were very clear with my message this morning.

I ran across a beautiful quote by Joyce Meyer that meets this morning with much gratitude for the spirit world …

“I’ve been saying for a couple of years now that people need to let God out of the Sunday box, that He doesn’t want to just be with you for an hour or two on Sunday morning and then put back in His box to sit there until you have an emergency, but He wants to invade your Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday AND Sunday!” read more

“The faculty of self-deception is an essential requisite for anyone wanting to guide others.”
~ Giuseppe Tomasi Di Lampedusa, Italian Author
Today is the first day since I started this blog that the sunrise did not make itself known to this part of the world.

The above quote seems so befitting of Mother Nature today. How deceptive her early morning clouds have been the past few mornings! They have quickly burned off to reveal crisp and clear afternoons. And I’m betting today won’t be any different, as I can very clearly see out into the far reaches of the British Virgin Islands, the tiny islands in the middle, which are rarely visible because of haze.

And I enjoy this quote for personal reasons too. As Einstein said, “Problems cannot be solved with the same mind set that created them.” There is a certain amount of self-deception that must go on – that comes from a deeper, more spiritual place – to get one from A to B. The ego-ic mind cannot do it. read more

“Raindrops, softly tapping the window, is nature singing us a sweet lullaby.” And I’m doing my happy rain dance !!

Opening the door to this overcast day was quite a surprise after enjoying such a beautiful, crystal clear day yesterday.
But our cistern and plants are in desperate need of some rain, so thanks Mother Nature!

Some days happiness feels more like an effort than a natural state of being. But as easy as we pick up a remote to change a TV channel, so can we change the texture of our thinking. With practice and mindfulness, it becomes easier.
