“There is no soul in perfection.”
~ Keith Urban (last night on American Idol)

Good morning friends! And I must declare it’s another beautiful morning here on St. Thomas!!

The weather is so strange! How is it that we can go from the rainiest December on record to probably one of the driest March’s ?? The only downside to all this gorgeous weather is that it’s going to cost me another round of water to fill the cistern. We could use some liquid gold right about now

So I’m going to take a quick break from chakra theory to talk about a really wonderful movie I watched on Netflix last night entitled 7 Days in Utopia.

It follows the story of a young, hot-head golfer named Luke, who is at odds with his father caddy, and finds himself in a small town in Texas, and eventually mentored by an ex golf pro, named Johnny, played by Robert Duvall, who gives a stellar performance.

There are so many gems and lessons in this movie.

When Luke arrives in Utopia, he feels like a failure. Having tied his identity to his performance on golf, he literally crash and burns, and tries to run from his family and himself.

Much like the 2nd chakra lesson revealed yesterday, when the student is ready the teacher will come! In the story, Johnny teaches the young pro powerful lessons about unleashing his true potential as a player and as a human being.

Seven days with Johnny gives Luke an opportunity to take stock, to assess his past and to forge a different future. He has been listening to the wrong voices. Will he bury the lies he has believed for far too long?

In his final and most important lesson, Luke finds Johnny at the cemetery, digging a grave, creating an opportunity for Luke to bury his lies, frustrations, and failings.

Johnny then challenges Luke to consider what his gravestone will say.

Our epitaph may only have room for a few words.

Titles like “loving spouse,” “gracious father,” and “beloved mother” may be etched in stone.

What do we hope to see etched on our gravestones?

What lies have robbed our lives and need to be buried?

In what particular area of our life (job, finances, relationships, plans, etc.), do we need to see, feel, and trust in the Divine? SFT, that’s the film’s final motto.

Really good questions for today. And I’m not sure I have the answers. I’m kind of scared my epitaph might simply be  “Victoria was a Vegan” or “Smart & Spiritual”.  I’m not quite sure that’s all I’d like to be remembered for …..

How about you?
