“In order to change, we must be sick and tired of being sick and tired.”
~ Unknown

What a beautiful still morning it is here today. But I almost missed it. I’d been awake, but lying in bed for some time before my alarm went off, took up my normal seat, but my mind was elsewhere. Where? I can’t say. Just not “present.”

When I finally realized I was off in la-la land, instead of being in the now, I realized that I am tired. It was a long, hot day yesterday, and it zapped me of my energy.

What’s amazing about this tiny bit of realization is how readily the mind get’s lost out of “now” when it’s tired. This shouldn’t come as any great surprise, because anyone will tell you that it’s easier to snap at people, etc. when someone’s had a long day. When we lose our mindfulness. So see, mindfulness is that fine tether. It’s neither thought, nor no-thought. With practice, it can become an ever present state of being, which keeps us rooted in the now, which is where peace and well-being lie. Wow!

Of course this is why Buddha lists “sloth & torpor” as one of the five hindrances …. Along with ill-will, restlessness & remorse, sense desire and doubt.

So today, here’s a few fun quotes on being tired … We have so many ways of using that word! I hope, unlike myself, that you are feeling energized today, and ready for the start to an amazing weekend!! And if you have some excess energy, would you mind sending me some 😉
