“Creativity isn’t about wild talent as much as it’s about productivity. To find new ideas that work, you need to try a lot that don’t. It’s a pure numbers game.”
~ Robert Sutton

Hello Monday! It was nice to wake up this morning to the sounds and smells of a passing rain shower. It felt cleansing, right along with the waning of this super moon. How was everyone’s Super Moon last night? From my vantage point, I’ve seen better. But people have shared some truly stunning photos from other parts of the world. I’ve had to chuckle at how well social media has marketed this natural event. What’s next, I wonder?

Being that it’s Monday, it’s time to look at the calendar for the week. As I schedule out my month, I try to choose projects that are creative, organizational, busy work, and personal. While it’s easy to place creative work on XYZ dates, it doesn’t always happen like that.

I’m working on a number of projects at the moment which require alot of left brain thinking. But I’ve just not felt the creative spark to finally push them out of the starting gate. Ben Arment notes:

“From 30,000 feet, creating looks like art. From ground level, it’s a to-do list.”

So true!  Finally yesterday, the creative sparks finally flew. I’ve often found the best way to go about artistic work is to brainstorm, then let it sit and slowly simmer, like a good soup. It’s why I allow time on my calendar for “busy work”. For me, busy work is the perfect antidote to creativity block or creative stewing.

I have errands to run today, so I’m praying, that I don’t lose my edge. Miquel de Cervantes writes:

“Delay always breeds danger, and to protract a great design is often to ruin it.”
